Much better breakdown of what’s going on, and what it means and doesn’t mean. It is really a fantastic and amazing discovery, but it’s not something different from the hackneyed phrase “life as we know it.” We just keep discovering that life is way cooler than we can know.

At their conference today, NASA scientist Felisa Wolfe Simon will announce that they have found a bacteria whose DNA is completely alien to what we know today.
